Imagine if Mother Nature was made into a human being that we could communicate with. We spoke the same language and were able to have a full conversation. What do you think she would say?
Do you think she would be happy? With how we are treating our planet? With how we treat her?
How would this conversation go? She would probably be pretty angry – with the trash that fills our oceans, our ground, our environment. With empty beer cans floating in lakes. Landfills of wasted resources that we will never use again. CO2 emissions in the air. Entire species of animals going extinct.
Mother Nature created life. Or is life. I’m not really sure. She encompasses all that surrounds us. The plants and animals, the soil, sand, and dirt. She has created a home for us. But we don’t respect our home. We let it get dirty and don’t clean up after ourselves. We exploit our resources and wreck destruction on our planet.
Why do we do this? By harming our home, we harm ourselves. We are so selfish that we don’t even realize we are hurting humanity, as well as the entire planet, along the way.
Unfortunately, we cannot have a conversation with Mother Nature, because she is more powerful than us. She is angry and fighting back, trying to protect her home. Natural disasters are getting stronger, global temperatures are rising, and humans are not strong enough to fight back.
“A 2018 World Bank report estimated that by 2050, there would be 143 million climate change-driven migrants from the regions of Latin America, sub-Saharan Africa, and southeast Asia alone.” 1
We cannot fight back. We must change our ways because we are in the wrong. This planet wasn’t created for human beings, we just happen to live here. Our earth is a beautiful gift that we should treasure. Life is beautiful, but if we only value ourselves then we are missing out on all that the world has to offer.
