A stolen destiny
Forced trajectory
Narrow perspective
Promised objectivity

Lacks a particular
Essence
Words are not enough

Imagination
Science fiction
Dreaming up
Alternative realities

What is missing?
Ideas flood in
But cannot undo the harm

Inhumanity
These actions leave ripples
Lasting effects

We may forget the past
But the past hasn’t forgotten us

For an attempt to forget
Is triggered by shame
A burden carried by perpetrators of
Inhumanity

We may try to deny the harm
But the harm haunts us to this very day

The way we think
Our idea of normal
Only exists through a narrow perspective

But questions lead to more confusion
How can we question a system
If we don’t have an alternative option?
Where do we go
When the infrastructure is already in place?
How might we start over
When the story is continuous?

Beginning
Middle
End
All relative

Where does one start
When history is taught from a narrow perspective?
How does one understand
When much is missing?
Where do I belong
In this grand story?

The story of colonization
A stolen destiny
Forced trajectory
Narrow perspective
Promised objectivity

A cycle that never ceases to bewilder
