A thin veil

Hides the person you truly are

Outsiders see perfection

But insiders know the truth

The insults and lies

Refusing to take responsibility

Blaming everyone else

Except yourself

Conniving and devious

Yet starving for praise

Hollow on the inside

Attempting to fill the void

The gap will always be there

Maybe deep down you know

It makes you miserable

So you hurt those closest to you

Unable to love

You spread hate

Envious and threatened

When others succeed

Excited and overjoyed

When they fail

It makes you feel powerful

Maybe the closest thing to happiness you’ll ever know

I try to run away

And you pull me back in

Your biggest fear

Is the secret getting out

You’re not who you say you are

And some can see right through it

This fake persona

Your disguise

More than anything

You care what others think

Living your life to please

It’s no longer your own

In a wake of destruction

Shattered glass and ugly screams

I see through your mask

It’s time for me to go
