and accurate representation

trying to bridge the gap

between life as it is

and life as I see it

far too much solitude

alone with the thoughts

confiding in the paper

as though it’s a close friend

revealing innermost experiences

naked and vulnerable

a fascination

with finding the right word

because only one will do

combining into a string of thoughts

from my mind to yours

trying to surpass

the inevitability of death

through the communication of ideas

talking to people in future generations

as well as your own

hoping your voice will extend

past your lifetime

onto others

speaking directly to other writers

because some understand your ideas

they build onto them

and pass on their knowledge

ideas growing and developing

through a vast communication network

writers over the course of time

talking to each other

and learning from one another
