with a strained smile

tears hiding behind my eyes

i say

merry christmas

enjoy your holidays!

and ponder

what it must be like

to have some happy family memories

during the holiday season

decorations all over the house

excitement in the air

the smell of freshly baked cookies

and a home cooked meal

it’s the happiest time of the year

the radio blares

for the tenth time today

but it doesn’t feel like christmas

when im sititng at home

alone
